What fun to cover Frederick's first Fashion Week, an even put on by ArtNEXT in partnership with local clothing boutiques, salon's, and spas. If you didn't make it this year, be sure to come out in '08!
Today was the opening for the Frederick Camera Clique's 21st Annual Juried Competition. This regional show draws professionals and serious photography enthusiasts from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC.
I am thrilled to share that my print titled, "Custom Chrome" won 1st Place in the Monochrome category. I had 3 other photographs in the show, which was an accomplishment given that show judges chose only 46 images from over 220 submissions.
The show runs through September 5th at the Mary Condon Hodgson Gallery at FCC. If you have a chance, stop in, there are many wonderful photographs to see!
Lauren LaRocca of the Frederick News Post interviewed me and several other Frederick area artists about and upcoming ArtNEXT show. It's a great 3 page article in The Next 72 Hours and includes
several pictures I currently have on display at the Cultural Arts Center in Downtown Frederick as well as an interview. Click on the image at the right to read a scanned excerpt from the feature.
My first TV appearance :-) ... discussing entries in the ArtNext show currently
open to the public at the Cultural Arts Center, 15 W. Patrick St.
Artscape airs on Frederick Cable Channel 10 Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm and repeats
several times through the week.

What a thrill to open this month's issue Frederick Magazine and find that I'd won 1st Place in their photographycontest! I'd entered Frederick Magazine's 2007 Images of Frederick Contest back in March and been anxiously awaiting the May issue. And to my surprise and great satisfaction, I won awards in 3 out of 4 categories:
- 1st Place, Frederick at Work, for "Birth"
- 1st Place, Nightlife, for "Roaring Ferris Wheel
- 3rd Place, Frederick at Play, for "Baker Park Blur"
